      Father Marc Paveglio - Pastor

Ministry: I shepherd the People of God at Saint Rose of Lima through Christ's threefold office of priest, prophet, and king – meaning to sanctify, teach, and govern. I call forth the gifts of the baptized and discern where God is leading us, so that our community is faithful to Christ's commission to evangelize the world.

About Me: After I was confirmed, I encountered the living God powerfully through the sacrament of reconciliation, the Church's teachings, and the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In high school, I began to ask Christ, "What is your plan for my life?" When I heard his call to the priesthood, I was surprised but intrigued. I was ordained in 2014 as a priest of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. I am also a member of the Companions of Christ. Jesus is "the resurrection and the life" for me (John 11:25); I ardently desire that all people would know the power of his resurrected life.

      Deacon Glenn Skuta
      651-470-7572

Ministry: I serve in liturgical and sacramental roles: assisting at Mass; preaching homilies; and presiding at baptisms, weddings, and burials. I also teach baptism class and give talks for faith formation programs. I preside at Communion services at two retirement communities.

About Me: While I contemplated a religious vocation in high school, I began to lose my faith in my late twenties. I felt called by the Holy Spirit, through helping a friend through a crisis, to explore the diaconate in my early thirties, and have loved serving in this role ever since. In addition to my volunteer diaconate ministry since 2004, I have worked full time in the environmental protection field for over 30 years.

      Interim School Principal
      Jane Bona
      651-357-1228

Ministry: I serve as the principal of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School. I help guide the school staff, teachers and parents to fully meet the mission of our school. It is a great joy to see the smiles and excitement of our students and families as they enter the school.

      Pastoral Associate
      Brian Hindt
       651-357-1202
Ministry:  Share God's love and mercy with all!  Help all personally encounter the God who is Love.

I am blessed to oversee Pastoral Ministry and Pastoral Care at Saint Rose of Lima.  I am honored to serve alongside countless faith-filled and self-giving parishioners in multiple ministries some of which include Funeral Ministry, Homebound and Senior Care Facility Communion Ministry, Parish Outreach, Faith Sharing groups and New Parishioner Welcome.  I am grateful to be the staff liaison for the Hospitality Team, Social Justice Committee, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Respect Life Committee.

About Me: As a child, being taught to pray and the importance of going to Mass set a solid foundation. My parents and Sacred Scripture taught me how to love.  A book on St. Padre Pio opened my eyes to the importance of the Mass and Sacraments. Assisting at a homeless ministry allowed me to experience the presence of God amidst those who suffer.  Witnessing faith-filled Christians living out their faith taught me what it means to have a personal relationship with God and how to follow Him.  Seeing my dad, who was terminally ill, gain unforeseen strength and improved health to live another year and become Catholic after requesting prayers taught me the power of prayer.  Reading two saint autobiographies witnessed to me that "God is love" and the importance of trusting in and accepting God’s unconditional love and mercy. My low-points in life taught me that God never leaves us. My time in seminary taught me to “Let go and Let God."

      Funeral Coordinator
      Jennifer Leuer
      651-357-1205
Ministry: I serve the Saint Rose of Lima community as the Funeral Coordinator. I assist families as they prepare to lay their loved ones to rest, offering compassion, a listening ear, and reassurance that their loved one will be honored. It is my privilege to serve in this role here at Saint Rose; a community I love so much.

About Me: I grew up in Saint Paul a few blocks from Hamline College, and attended Saint Bernard's High School. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Chris, and together we have four children. Our oldest is in college, and three younger children are current students at Saint Rose. In our free time as a family, we enjoy going to our family cabin as often as we can, and having movie nights. As for me, I can often be found in the kitchen baking bread, and preparing a meal. I also enjoy reading and doing puzzles.

      Business Administrator
      Joseph Juaire
      651-357-1204
Ministry: As Business Administrator, I manage the day-to-day operations of the parish. This includes facilities and financial management, human resources, safe environment coordination and staff liaison to the Finance Council and Pastoral Council. My daily interactions with the parishioners and staff bring me great joy and serve as a constant reminder that Christ lives within all of us.

About Me: I grew up on the eastside of St. Paul as a student and parishioner at Sacred Heart. My relationship with our Lord is a direct result of the faithful nurturing and countless prayers from three amazing prayer warriors, my grandmother, my mother, and my wife. I strive each day to live the Christ-filled life that they helped to instill in me.

      Administrative Assistant
      Brigid Kostka

      651-357-1200

Ministry: I offer warm welcome, contribute to the mission of Saint Rose of Lima Parish, and serve others in a caring professional way while keeping the church office humming, organized, and responsive. Being able to greet and welcome a variety of people, support their varied needs and proactively solve problems gives me the feeling that I am applying my gifts as God intended.

About Me: I’ve spent all my life in the Twin Cities and am grateful for all my ‘guides’ in my development as a Catholic – my family, as well as my friends and coworkers. My sense of empathy, my optimistic outlook, and my desire to connect with people, are all rooted in my faith in God.  When the sum total of the work we do is boiled down to the bones, my belief is the product of that work has value, but the truly meaningful result of our efforts are the relationships we build along the way. We are each endowed by God with certain gifts, and the goodness of Christ is reflected in the world when each of us put those gifts to their best use. I strive to be Christ-like in serving others, in making a valuable contribution to God’s mission with my life and energy.

      Stewardship Coordinator
      Ruth Gangl
      651-357-1206

Ministry: I keep track of donations to the parish.  I update the parish database and reach out to parishioners through calls, emails, and letters. Volunteer counters and I work together each week to count the weekend and holiday collections.

About Me:  I grew up on the east side of St. Paul and our high school youth group was very active and kept many of us high school students active in our parish and faith. It certainly was part of my faith foundation. When the Stewardship Coordinator position opened up at Saint Rose, I was wondering what God was calling me to do and here I am. The parishioners of Saint Rose of Lima certainly have been role models in helping my faith grow. "Let your light shine before all; so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven."  Matthew 5:16

      Director of Evangelization and Catechesis
      Isaiah Lippert
      651-357-1212
Ministry: I serve the Saint Rose of Lima community as the Director of Evangelization and Catechesis. My position oversees and lends support to all the coordinators of the various forms of faith formation offered within the parish, working with them and Father Paveglio to accomplish his catechetical goals, and, ultimately, to draw every man, woman, and child of the parish into into life-long discipleship of Jesus Christ.

About Me: I grew up in Easton, MN, a small town of 199 people, on a rural acreage south of Mankato. I was homeschooled primarily, but eventually had some experience with high school and college before I entered seminary for the Diocese of Winona-Rochester. After roughly seven years of discernment both inside and outside of priestly formation, I sensed God leading me to the lay life, after which I started working as a painter and eventually met my future wife. I have a great deal of interests and enjoyments, so I tend to bounce between them, active and passive, solitary and social, indoor and outdoor. These days I tend especially toward creative projects such as making/recording music and designing board games, both of which I have plans to publish and share more broadly in the future.

      Youth Minister and Confirmation Coordinator
      Maria Philips
      651-357-1210

Ministry: My ministry goal is simple: to lead young people to Christ! My role as Confirmation Coordinator includes planning a dynamic and thought-provoking curriculum to help young people to engage their Catholic faith. As Youth Minister, I provide opportunities for youth fellowship, faith formation, and prayer.

About Me: Having lived my childhood in West Saint Paul, Minnesota, I experienced Christ's love profoundly through Eucharistic adoration. This experience spurred me to evangelize, and so I ventured across borders to perform faith-based ministry in the Philippines, France, and in fifteen U.S. states. My desire to understand the Catholic faith led me to the Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity to complete a Master's in Theology degree. Games, snacks, and Thomistic theology are my areas of expertise.

      Faith Formation Administrative Assistant
      Kristina Messer

      651-357-1209

Ministry: I am a support for all of the Faith Formation families in the Saint Rose community for all questions, registration, and events throughout the year. I also aid the Faith Formation Team with their ministries by helping them with the behind-the-scenes tasks so that they are able to bring God into the lives of our children.

About me: I grew up in a Catholic family where we said our mealtime prayers, our travel Rosaries, went to religion class and our Sunday obligation. It wasn’t until after college that I truly developed my relationship with God and my Catholic faith. It was through volunteering with my parish’s youth ministry programs that I was finally willing to listen to what God was calling me to; to be surrounded by people who are enthusiastic about sharing their faith and God experiences with our youth. My love for Jesus, being Catholic, organizing and making lists has led me to Saint Rose where I have been welcomed with open arms!

      Early Childhood Faith Formation Coordinator
      Abby Deptula
      651-357-1213

Ministry:  I teach a PreK through 1st grade class once a week all about building the foundations of our faith. This is one of the most important times for a young person to learn about Catholicism as they build their knowledge and learn to reason on their own. It is my mission to help them on that journey and equip them with all they need along the way.

About me: I am originally from Champaign, Illinois, where I grew up youngest in my family of four. We began looking for the next adventure when I graduated high school and my parents became empty-nesters; the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes seemed a great place to start. Through the time I spent around my mother’s small nannying business and my summer as a Totus Tuus missionary, it was no question to me that I wanted to share my faith with the children around me. In my free time I love to explore local coffee shops and spend time with friends (usually by playing a card game!).

      Communications Coordinator &
      Children's Choir Director
      Evy Wang
      651-357-1215

Ministry: I make sure that clear and timely messaging happens between parish leadership, volunteers, and parishioners. I send out the eNews each week, update the parish website, and oversee the visual and written components of everything from brochures to business cards.

I also direct the parish children's choir. My goal is to help children learn how to sing beautifully and to glorify God through song. My hope and prayer is that "what we sing with our lips we may believe in our hearts."

About Me: I am originally from South Dakota, where my family runs a cattle ranch. In 2019, I moved to the Twin Cities to work for Minnesota Opera's marketing and communications department. That fall, I joined RCIA at the Cathedral, and was welcomed into the Catholic Church the following June. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Catholic Studies at the University of Saint Thomas, and I am set to graduate next May. In June of 2023 I married my husband, Josh, and we have a one-year-old son who is often at the Parish Office with me!

      Building Maintenance Engineer
      Donald Koska

Ministry: It is my job to make sure that Saint Rose stays upright. I work with everything from keeping up the grounds to fixing the electrical and plumbing. You will see me around the parish office and the school keeping things in working order.

About Me: I have been married to my wonderful wife for nearly 30 years and have a daughter in college. In our free time, I spend time with my family, fishing, camping, hiking, and seeing all of the sights. My off hours are dedicated to keep up my garden and spending time in the great outdoors that God gave us.

      Building Maintenance Engineer
      Wayne Hanrahan
Ministry: I take care of Saint Rose to ensure it is a clean and safe environment, keeping things running smoothly day to day for everyone. You'll see me all around both the parish office and the school!

About Me: I was born in Saint Paul and have lived here my whole life. I attended Cretin High School. In my free time, I spend time with my grandsons and I love to collect old sports cards.

    Accessibility

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops teaches that:

      1. All human beings are equal in dignity in the sight of God. Moreover, by reason of their Baptism, all Catholics also share the same divine calling.

      2. Catholics with disabilities have a right to participate in the sacraments as fully as other members of the local ecclesial community. “Sacred ministers cannot deny the sacraments to those who seek them at appropriate times, are properly disposed, and are not prohibited by law from receiving them.”

      3. Parish sacramental celebrations should be accessible to persons with disabilities and open to their full, active, and conscious participation, according to their capacity.

Saint Rose of Lima Parish strives to live out these fundamental principles of our faith to serve everyone in our community, whatever their ability.

      Building Access

      Church building:
The east doors of the church can be operated by electronic handicap accessible buttons. The nave, narthex, sacristy, restrooms, community room and cry room are connected without stairs. The sanctuary area contains steps but has handrails for stability.

      Church restrooms:
Two handicap accessible restrooms are located in the front left of the church, between the Sacred Heart shrine and the northeast doors.

      Parish Center building:
The Parish Center's three floors are connected with a handicap accessible elevator on Skillman Avenue. Please contact the Parish Center prior to your visit to ensure that the Skillman Avenue doors are unlocked.

      School building:
Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School is currently assessing ways to improve accessibility to all parts of the building.

      Liturgical Participation

People with disabilities or special needs can receive accommodations in their sacramental preparation and faith formation. Please call our parish office to discuss with our staff.

Personal hearing assistance devices are located near the east doors. Please return them into the charging station for subsequent users. Now, you can connect your Bluetooth enabled hearing aids to our soundsystem. Click here to find out how.

The church has a cry room in the back left where families can participate in the Mass in a place where there is less sensory stimuli.

Persons with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease can receive a consecrated low-gluten Host at anytime by receiving Holy Communion the Priest's communion line. Those with hypersensitivity can receive the Precious Blood from an uncontaminated chalice. Please visit the sacristy before Mass starts, located behind the main altar.

Incense is part of Catholic liturgical worship and devotion. At Saint Rose, we use incense frequently on the high holy days and special seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. Please inquire with the parish office to learn more.
    Parish History

July 22, 1989: One of the 50th anniversary celebration Masses

During the 1930’s, rural Rose Township quickly transitioned into a bustling suburb. The new families caught the attention of Archbishop John Murray. On July 24, 1939, Archbishop Murray appointed Father John C. Abbott as pastor of Saint Rose of Lima Parish. Like the town, the budding parish would experience significant changes within the coming decades.

As a young parish, Saint Rose celebrated Mass in Rose Town Hall. However, membership increased quickly, so that by 1940, a single building was constructed to house Saint Rose of Lima Church and School. When the school opened in September, eight Servite sisters were teaching 170 students. To accommodate growing school enrollments, parishioners began operating a diner at the Minnesota State Fair. In 1957, school enrollment peaked at 1240 students. The original building was no longer sufficient to house the school and church.

In 1955, Monsignor James Ryan had fundraised to build a new church structure and a convent – presently, the school gymnasium and the Parish Center. Then in 1967, Saint Rose erected a totally new structure – the modern church building, a round edifice composed of natural materials, like Minnesota Limestone. The original building plan had been altered to reflect values endorsed by the Second Vatican Council. The round shape of the church was meant to symbolize the active participation of the entire congregation united around the altar.

Generous parishioners sought many opportunities to participate in parish life. In the late 1950’s, families opened their homes for the catechesis of public school students. By 1988, 75 trained volunteers were ministering to over 400 religious education students. Parishioners also ministered to the homebound. They delivered hot meals through Meals on Wheels and brought Holy Communion to senior citizens. Then another movement developed. Eucharistic devotion exploded when, in 1989, 500 adorers committed to maintain a Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration chapel.

Although buildings, staff, and ministries have changed over the years, the Saint Rose community maintains continues to maintain a spirit of prayer and service. Today Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church provides a home parish for over 1200 households in the Roseville area.

The above information was derived from the St. Rose of Lima Parish 1939-1989 directory.

      Mike and Liz Tinucci

High school sweethearts Liz and Mike Tinucci first met at Archbishop Brady High School in West St. Paul. Now married for 46 years and counting, they have built a life grounded in faith, family, and service. Together, they raised three children—two living in Minneapolis and one in Hayward, Wisconsin—and delight in their three grandchildren.
Liz’s family roots stretch to Mexico City, where her parents were married before moving to the United States. She spent her childhood summers there, surrounded by cousins and immersed in the Spanish language—her first. Her family’s devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe was strong enough to gift her the middle name “Guadalupe.” This devotion continues today through her daily prayer to Our Lady and her daily rosary. The portrait of Our Lady, which once hung in her childhood home, now rests at the center of the Tinuccis’ own.

Mike grew up in South St. Paul in a lively Italian household with four siblings. He describes crowded holidays and lots of good cooking, led in the faith by his parents. Now 93, they continue to be a joyful presence and example in their lives. Friends know Mike as a classic car enthusiast and skilled model builder, though visitors to the Minnesota Capitol or Ordway Center may unknowingly admire his craftsmanship, refined over decades as a cabinet maker for the Aaron Carlson Company.

The Tinuccis became parishioners of St. Rose of Lima in 2012 after moving from Inver Grove Heights to shorten their commute to work. They visited several parishes before finding at St. Rose what they describe as “a feeling of welcome, belonging, and home in the house of our Father.” Both now retired, they’ve found fulfillment serving together on the Art and Environment team and with Loaves and Fishes—ministries that “have led to helping others, meeting some very nice people and having fun, all at the same time.”

Each week, Liz and Mike also spend an hour together in Eucharistic Adoration, a practice that has deepened their relationship with God and with each other. Their commitment began in 2018, when Liz turned to a weekly holy hour as a way out of the “spiral” following the loss of her younger brother. One week, she invited Mike to join her in prayers of thanksgiving. He found it to be a quiet spiritual reset—and he’s been joining her ever since. “Adoration has been a gift and a blessing during difficult and happy life events and has strengthened our faith and our bond with each other.”
Liz’s faith journey took an especially transformative turn in the summer of 2024, when Fr. Paveglio invited her to a women’s silent retreat. There, she experienced a “supernatural encounter with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.” Since then, she has shared her testimony at a Spirit and Fire gathering and begun studies with the Encounter School of Ministry, a two-year program focused on living and sharing God’s love through the Holy Spirit.

For the Tinuccis, St. Rose is a spiritual home. They encourage all—existing parishioners and visitors alike—to receive the gift of prayer through Prayer Ministry after Mass and during Spirit and Fire. And for married couples, the near five-decade veterans share the hope that all couples cherish the friendship within their marriage as they do. “Everything is better with your best friend!”
