Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
Congratulations on taking the first step toward raising your child in the sacramental life of faith! Baptisms take place on Sundays, generally the first Sunday of the month after Mass or the third Sunday of the month during Mass. Please call the Parish Office at 651-645-9389 to register for the Sacrament of Baptism and to find out more information.
First-time parents and parents whose last class was three or more years ago are asked to attend a Baptism Preparation session, preferably before the baby is born. Baptism classes are usually at 6:00 PM on the second Wednesday of every other month, or by appointment, and last approximately one hour.
If you are the parent of a child seven years or older who desires to be baptized, please call the parish office at 651-645-9389 and ask about sacramental preparation for older children. If you are an adult who desires to be baptized, please see the information about our Exploring Catholicism program.
The sacraments are a great gift given to the Church by Christ as a beautiful way for each one of us to draw close to Him. St. Augustine said the sacraments are "visible signs of invisible grace." The goal of Saint Rose's sacramental preparation is to help our young people understand the visible signs and ready their hearts for God's grace.
We not only want each child to feel well prepared for the first time they receive each sacrament, but we also want them to be excited to receive the eucharist and participate in confession regularly. Through engaging classroom activities, prayer, family workshops, and opportunities to see God moving in their life, we achieve those goals!
Sacramental preparation typically begins in 2nd grade, and meets late September through early May, WEDNESDAYS from 6:00PM-7:15PM. What if my child is older than 2nd grade and needs to get caught up on sacraments? Not to worry! We want all people to be able to fully participate in the life of the Church (especially the sacraments) and we are happy to work with each family to determine the best way to get your child caught up while ensuring they are still able to actively participate in Faith Formation with students their own age.

Preparation for Confirmation consists of a variety of activities designed to help high school students, 9th grade or older, understand the various ways in which Jesus Christ is present in their lives. Students explore their Catholic faith and learn how to apply their beliefs to everyday life through participation in small group sessions, large group presentations, service projects, prayer services, music, and an overnight retreat. Catechists, guest speakers, and parish staff work together to guide our candidates on their spiritual journey. The Confirmation preparation process involves not only the individuals who are preparing to celebrate the sacrament, but also their families, sponsors, and the entire parish community.
Confirmation classes will be held on Wednesdays, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the Saint Rose School. Our program will conclude with Confirmation Mass on Monday April 20, 2026, at the Cathedral of Saint Paul. Scheduling information will be available through Flocknote and the Sunday bulletin. All questions may be directed to the Faith Formation Office.
Would you like to learn more about our Confirmation program? Come to the Orientation Session! You will receive a syllabus, a list of program requirements, and an overview of our curriculum, Chosen. Confirmation candidates and parents are required to attend this Orientation Session.
